8 Reasons Why You Probably Don’t Have a VBS at Your Church.
-
No one will take the responsibility to organize it.
-
No one has raised the question of WHY
-
The church is too small to have many children attend.
-
Where do we get materials and ideas for a VBS
-
We don’t have the space to have a VBS
-
We don’t have enough children in our church for a VBS
-
We don’t have enough people to operate a VBS program.
-
We never even considered having a VBS. Maybe we’ll consider it tomorrow
Tomorrow is like “somebody”. Everybody knows somebody but somebody is never around when it comes to getting things in motion, to offer ideas, to help implement projects. Saying we’ll do it tomorrow is like saying we’ll do it for sure the second Thursday of next week. Make “tomorrow” a reality, not a dream, or a fantasy, not a means of escape from taking that “first step.”
Recognize the advantages of conducting a VBS. Do you want the following benefits to your children, your church and your community to be overlooked? I don’t think so! Consider the following:
It is an opportunity for children to:
-
Get members of the church to work together
-
It raises awareness of the church in the community
-
It gives an opportunity for the young people to share Christ with their friends
-
It presents another chance for children to learn about the love of Christ
-
It is an opportunity for the children to interact with others people of all ages
-
It makes a Christian program available for children ages 6-13, an age not usually covered by other church activities in the summer.
